Add View


Trade Max provides you with powerful functions to filter your trade by adding different views. You just need to right-click on a specific item in the Account List and select the Add View function in the context menu.

Download Data From T.Rowe Price


To download data file from T.Rowe Price:

  1. Log in your T. Rowe Price trading account.
  2. Click on the Account History tab.
  3. Select All Trades from the Show Activity drop-down box.
  4. Set a specified date range .
  5. Run the report and select the entire page .

  6. Copy and paste the data into a Excel document and save it as XLS file.
  7. Run TradeMax to import trade activity data from local file. Click Next Button 
  8. In Profile Name Dropdown list,Please select Profile Wizard(*.xls).

     

 

Download Data From Terro Nova


To download data file from Terro Nova:

  1. Log in your Terro Nova account.
  2. Go to Client Services and click Reports tab.
  3. Select Download Data .

  4. Set a specific date range.
  5. Select the Comma Delimited File (CSV) – Standard option.:
  6. Click the download button .
  7. Run TradeMax to import trade activity data from local file.

Download Data from Thinkorswim


To download data file from Thinkorswim:

  1. Log into your Thinkorswim account.
  2. Click My Accounts > My Account Info > Account Statements.

  3. Select View Account Statement from our clearing firm.

  4. Click Reports tab>Trade activity.
  5. Set the date range, then click the Go button.
  6. Click the Download Data button at the upper-right side of the screen.
  7. Select Delimited text file and Comma delimited , then click the Download now button.
  8. Click Save button .
  9. Your downloaded file must be in this format as shown below, otherwise, you should set your profile in profile wizard dialog box to import your data into TradeMax.

    If you find the downloaded file format is different from the above formats, you should set your profile in Profile Wizard.

  10. Run TradeMax to import trade activity data from local file.

Download Data From Tradestation


To download data file from Tradestation:

  1. Log into your TradeStation trading account.
  2. From the Account Services menu, select Balances, Positions & Activity > Tax Activity.
  3. Set the desired date range of your data.
  4. Choose All from the Transaction Type drop-down menu.
  5. You can select Quicken (*.qfx) from the File Type drop-down menu.
  6. Click on the Download button.
  7. Run TradeMax and setup a TradeStation account to import trade activity data from local file. Click on the Next Button
  8. In Profile Name dropdown list,select Open Financial Exchange (*.ofx,*.qfx,*.xml)
  9. Click File Browser Button to select data file from your computer,then click Next Button

Add a Preset View


The following will show you how to add a view which already exists in the context menu, for a different purpose, you can add a preset view under Broker name orspecific Financial Year.

  1. Right- click on the specific Broker name (e.g AB Watley) and select specific view from the dropdown list.
  2. A Trade View Dialog box pops up.
  3. Right-click on the specific Broker name (e.g AB Watley) and select specific view (e.g FY2008)

You also can add a preset view under a Specifc Financial Year.  The Specific Financial Year contains the whole trade data and the baseline positions of the specific tax year and the trades executed in January of the following tax year.

If you want to view the special data under a Specific Financial Year (e.g FY2008 under Interactive Brokers Jones) , you can add a preset view under sSspecific Financial Year. The following will tell you how it works.

  1. Right-click on the specific item in the Account List (e.g. View FY2008 ) and select specific view.
  2. Here is the content of each view:

    Basic Function
    Stock Contains all Stock transactions
    Option Contains all Option. transactions
    Future Contains all Future transactions
    Currency Contains all Currency transactions
    Stock Option and SSF Contains all Stock Option and SSF transactions
    Baseline Contains the baseline positions of the current tax year
    Finance Data Contains the cash flow data, for example, cash dividends.
    Trade Data Contains all the trade data for the schedule D purpose
    My holdings Contains the holding position of specific date
    Custom Customized view
  3. You will get the view list under the FY2008 as follows:

Now the Function Custom View has been designed to give users additional control over the display of trade data on the grid, Besides this, With it you can

  • Combine Different Accounts
  • Find trades with specific symbol, amount, etc.
  • Display all open position.
  • Find multi-legs data more flexibly
  • Run reports containing customized data.

The following will demonstrate how this function works.

  1. Right click on the specific item (e.g FY 2008 under the Account ScotTrade Jones) and select Add View> Custom.
  2. The following dialog box will pop-up:
  3. Basic Function
    1.Name
    Enter the Name of the trade view ( e.g ABC )
    2. Account Field
    Used the Arrow to select specific accounts.

    The Selected account(s) list the accounts selected.

    3. Condition List Use to customize the condition which allows TradeMax to filter the Trade data with more flexibility.
    4. Button
    Click Button to get the pop up Expression Dilalog Box below
    5. Button Click Button to delete the selected Expression data.

  4. After you click button, the Expression Dialog Box appears as below:
    • Select the Parameter from the Trade field .
    • Select the Relation from the Relation field.
    • Enter the Value to the Value field.
  5. Basic Function
    1.Symbol
    The security name
    2. TickerMatch
    The strike price of the underlying stock in the option or future
    3. Type Security type. For instance, stocks and mutual funds, options on stocks, Single-Stock-Futures, futures, currencies etc.
    4. Date
    The Trade date of specific security
    5. Action Action name in TradeMax.

    Open Long — Buy Stock/Option to Open a Long position
    Close Long — Sell Stock/Option to Close a Long position
    Open Short — Buy Stock/Option to Close a Short position
    Close Short — Sell Stock/Option to Open a Short position

    8. OComm Original Commission
    9. O Amt

  6. Each filter is comprised of one or more “conditions”. After selection, the condition List will display the conditions you selected or entered in Expression Dialog box.
  7. The default root is “And”.   To change the default root, right click AND.   A dropdown menu will appear.
    • And : Select And option to display specific expression.
    • Or: Select Or option to allow more expressions to be displayed in specific view (e.g ABC)
    • Add Expression: Click Add Expression to add another Expression.
    • Delete: Select Delete option to delete the selected expression.
  8. Click OK to continue or Cancel to cancel the process.

Delete a View


TradeMax allows you to delete view easily.

Right-click on a specific view (for example, Jones & Rachel) under the broker tree and select Delete View function in the context menu to delete the view

Run Reports


Run Reports

TradeMax offers a simple and clean solution to run report for your tax and analyzing your trading performance purpose.

Before you run a report, you need do the following step:

 

Enter Your SSN and Name

  1. Click the Main Button on the upper left corner of the Trade window and press the Options Button

  2. Options dialog box will pop up:

  3. Enter your name and SSN and your name will appear on your upper left section in the running report
  4. You can click the checkboxes to:
    • Make the Exercised/ Assigned securities’ Buy/Sell price same as the strike price of option.
    • Auto-Expire unexercised/ unassigned options at 0 price on expiration date
    • Auto scan the trade errors.
    • Update your TradeMax software when running TradeMax each time.

     

  5. If you want to upback TradeMax data, click to view the directory of the database.
  6. You can also change the SSN by redoing the above step 1 & step 2

 

The following will show you how to Add a Report to Account List

Many investors trade security in other currencies such as EUR, CAD, AUD, JPY, HKD, GBP, CHF, TradeMax now supports running report in your base currency and in USD currency for tax purpose.

The Base Currency is the first currency quoted in a currency pair.  The base currency is referred to as the parent currency and exchange rates are quoted in per unit of the base currency.  The base currency is the more valuable currency.  Therefore in the HKD/USD currency pair, the HKD is more valuable than the dollar, so it is the base currency.  The base currency is also known as the accounting currency or domestic currency. TradeMax supports running reports on the following base currencies such as EUR, CAD, AUD, JPY, HKD, GBP, CHF.

The Tax Currency is the default currency USD.

TradeMax provides two options to generate the report:

Option 1 : Click the Report Button in Trade Panel.

Option 2 : Select the specific report from the right menu of Trade Data.

 

Option 1 : In order to simplify the process of generating reports, you can click the Report Button (shortcut button) in Trade Panel. the following will tell you how to generate the report by clicking the shortcut button.

  1. Click the Report Button in Trade Panel.
  2. The Report Wizard dialog box pops up:
    • Select the specific account that you want to generate the reports from dropdown list.
    • Select the specific Finance Year that you want to generate the reports from dropdown list
    • Select the specific report you want to run from the dropdown list. After you select the specifc report, the specific report icon will be auto-generated under Trade Data diretory.
    • Select the currency type from the dropdown list.
    • Note: Please use End of Tax Year function to generate baseline position or Enter Your Year End Baseline Position before generating the reports, otherwise the results will be inaccurate!

Option 2 : You also can generate your reports by clicking the specific report icon under Trade Data direcoty after you select it from the right menu of the Trade Data

  1. Right-click the Trade Data view in the Account List and select the specific report.
  2. As you see, there are a dozen reports:.

    1. Cost Basis Transaction Report -This report is for those users who track the cost basis in stocks, bonds and mutual funds to report a cost basis when an investment is sold.
  3. Daily Account Value – This report provide you with a simple way to track your trade data on daily basis, with the Daily Account Value function, you can easily compare and monitor your trade performance through the generated chart so as to make a better investment strategy and maximize your capital gains.
  4. Daily Market Value Report – This report is for those users who track the performance and market value of the securities on daily basis in specific finance year. The report will show the portfolio of every transaction on daily basis.
  5. IRS Schedule D-1 – This report is for those users who require a more exact replica of the IRS form.
  6. Mark to Market
    Detail Report
    – This report is for those users  want to record the price or value of a security, portfolio on a daily basis to calculate gains and losses or to confirm that margin requirement are met.
  7. Mark to Market For Form 4797 – This report is for traders in stocks, options and single-stock futures who elect mark-to-market accounting to report their trading activity on Form 4797
  8. Mark to Market Gain/Loss Pie Report – This report is for those users who want to calculate mark to market trading performance for each securities and track the mark to market gains and losses for a fiscal year or date range.
  9. Realized Gain/Loss Pie Report – This report is for those users who want to calculate trading performance for each securities and track the realized gains and losses for a fiscal year or date range.
  10. Realized Gain/Loss Report – This report is for those users who require trade transaction detail. Such as Security, Quality, open price, Open date, Open Commission, close price, close commission, sales price, cost basic, Actual gain &lose for each transaction. Moreover, it can be grouped by ID, Symbol, or TradeDate.
  11. G& L Report – This is the default report created by TradeMax for filing with Taxes.
  12. SummaryReport – Display or print a trade summary report. This valuable summary or aggregation of an entire ID or Symbol allows a user to see how one Symbol performed versus another
  13. Transaction Detail Report – A report display all trade detail. This report lists each and every transaction as displayed in the grid. Additionally, the profit or loss can be summed by Trade Number, Ticker, or Date.
  14. Unrealized Gain/Loss Report – This report is for those users who  want to get the information of Gain/Loss when the price of the securities decrease or increase after buying, but he or she has yet to sell it.
  15. Wash Sale Detail Report – This report allows you to analyze your disallowed wash sale losses that have been deferred to next year
  16. Section 1256 Report – This report is for those users who want to get the information of Unrealized Gain/Loss amount and 60% long term amount and 40% short term amount auto-calculated by TradeMax as an attachment to Section 1256 contract.
  • You will see the selected report under the Trade Data view like this:
  • If you run the report in Base Currency, on the left side of your selected report title will dispaly your base currency. As the pricture showed above, HKD appears on the left side of IRS Schedule D report . If you run the report in Tax Currency (the default currency is USD), as you can see from the aboved picture, USD appears on the left side of the report title.

    Notes:

    Unregister edition will pop a register remind dialog box when you run the report:

    • You can register your TradeMax by entering the Registration Name and Registration Code and press the Register button
    • You can also click Buy Now to buy the Registration Code
    • A free trial version can only generate report from a data range 1/1 to 6/30 and can’t export to pdf and excel.

     

     

    Download Data from Investrade


    The following steps will show you how to download data from Investrade.

    1. Login your Investrade trade account.
    2. Click Account Information > Activity.
    3. Select Trades from the “Activity Type” drop down box.

    4. Unselect Current check box , then set a specific time range.
    5. Your Trade History report will display, the report should contain the right columns as shown below:

      Account Type | Trade Date | Settle Date | Exec Time | Trade Number | CUSIP/Symbol | ISIN | Description | Buy/Sell | Qy | Price | Principal Amt | Comm | Other Comm | Net Amount | Curr

    6. Click Download Data icon

    7. Select Delimited text file and Comma delimited and then click the Download now button

    8. Click the Save button.
    9. Click Save button in Save In drop down dialog box.
    10. Run TradeMax and setup an Investrade account to import trade activity data from local file.
