Security View


Security View helps you manage symbols after you import trade into TradeMax.

Basic Function
1. Security Panel Security Panel is designed to help you quickly manage symbols.
2. Security Grid Security Grid is the main section where users are able to manage their symbols after they import their trades into TradeMax.
3. Security Tree The Security List is designed to help you quickly find symbols. There are ten Symbol types:

  1. Stock
  2. STK Call Option=Stock Call Option
  3. STK Put Option=Stock Put Option
  4. STK Future=Stock Future
  5. Fund
  6. Commodities
  7. Currency
  8. Sect.1256 Future=Section.1256 Future
  9. Sect.1256 Call Option=Section.1256 Call Option
  10. Sect.1256 Put Option=Section.1256 Put Option
If you select the Security in the Security Panel or Quick Access Panel,you will get the Security List (similar to the picture above). Symbols are organized in logical groups that are collected together under tabs.
4. Group By Panel Drag a column header here to group by that column.
5. Quick Access Bar Click one alphabet button to go to the specific trades beginning with the specific alphabet.

Security Panel

Security Panel is designed to help you quickly manage symbols.

Basic Function
Actions Group Append Append a symbol
Edit Edit your symbol records
Delete Delete selected symbol records
Price Download the price historical data of the security .
Market Download Exchange Market for a symbol
Save Save the symbol record (Keyboard Shortcuts: CTRL + S)
Clipboard Group Undo Undo the last action (Keyboard Shortcuts: CTRL +Z/ALT + Backspace)
Redo Redo the previously undo action (Keyboard Shortcuts: CTRL +Y)
View Group Group By Box Press the Group By Box button to activate the Group By panel which is at the top of the data grid.It allows grouping data by single or multiple columns. You can either set grid column(s) that will be used for grouping, or enable Group By Box where grouped columns may be dropped at runtime
Field Chooser Press the Field Chooser button to activate the Field Chooser box floating above the data grid.The built-in Filed Chooser provides a simple and efficient way to organize the grid layout: you can drag and drop the column header to the chooser from the grid header. You can also drag any required field from the chooser and drop it either on the grid header, or on the group box.
Outlook Bar Hide or display the Security List
Column Auto-Resize Allow TradeMax to automatically resize columns in the data grid.
Help Button Click Help Button to get Help Document.( Keyboard Shortcuts: F1)

Security Grid


Security Grid (refer to the picture below) is the main part of the Security View where users are able to manage symbols.

Part One: Overview the Security Grid.

This part will show you the main function of each section.

Section 1: Group By Panel

Drag a column header here to group by that column.

Section 2: Symbol Grid

Symbol Grid helps the users view the symbols.

Section 3: Quick Access Bar

Click any alphabet button to go to the specific trades beginning with that specific alphabet.

Section 4: Meaning of Column Headers

Column Headers Basic Function
Symbol Name Security Ticker Symbol
Underlying Stock The stock on which an option is written, giving the option holder the right to buy or sell.
Type Security Type:

  1. Stock
  2. Stock Call Option(STK Call Option)
  3. Stock Put Option(STK Put Option)
  4. Stock Future(STK Future)
  5. Fund
  6. Commodities
  7. Currency
  8. Section.1256 Future(Sect.1256 Future)
  9. Section.1256 Call Option(Sect.1256 Call Option)
  10. Section.1256 Put Option(Sect.1256 Put Option)
Rate An option has a 100 “Rate” which means an option contract is for 100 shares of the underlying stock
Strike Price The strike price of the underlying stock in the option or future
Expire Date Expire date of option or future.
Exchange Market The exchange market where you bought the financial product. For instance, NASDAQ
Notes Any information of the product.

Part Two: How to view and append a symbol?

This part will show you how to view and append a symbol.

Manage Security


Symbols grid will automatically display relationship between an option and a stock after you import your trades into TradeMax.

Click the Security in the Security Panel.

e.g.: Choose Symbol> Stock on the Security list.

The Symbol grid shows below:

Basic Function
1. Group By Box Drag a column header here to group by that column
2.Symbol Grid Symbol Grid is the main section where users are able to view their symbols
3. Quick Access Bar Click one alphabet button to go to the specific trades beginning with the specific alphabet.

Under the Symbol, you can also do the following if needed.
Append a Symbol

  • Click Append button in Security Panel
  • A popup dialog box allows you to record Symbol below:

    Option Basic Function
    Symbol Name Enter the symbol’s name
    Underlying Stock Enter your underlying stock‘s name of the symbol. If it is not an option, you can skip this field.
    Rate An option has a 100 “Rate” which means an option contract is for 100 shares of the underlying stock.
    Type From the Type dropdown list select the type of the financial product.
    Strike Price Only available when the symbol is an option or future.
    Expire Date Only available when the symbol is an option or future.
    Exchange Market Enter the exchange market where you bought the financial product. For instance, NASDAQ
    Notes Any information of the product.

    There are 10 kinds of Symbol types: Stock, Stock Call Option, Stock Put Option, Stock Future, Fund, Commodities, Currency, Section.1256 Future, Section.1256 Call Option, Section.1256 Put Option.

Download Security Price History


With this function, you can download holding security prices from the Internet that you track in TradeMax, view the price history to monitor the performance of the securities in a certain period of time, which help you to invest better.

TradeMax will download single security’s price or several securities’ prices in a specific period of time.

  1. In Security View, click the Price button in Ribbon field.
    • Download Selected– TradeMax will download the price of the selected securities (you have to select the securities to activate this option first)
    • Download All– TradeMax will download the price of all securities in trade grid
  2. Learn more about: How to select trade records.

  3. A dialog box pops up, and then click Download button to continue the process, the price of the symbol will be downloaded.Note: If you “Skip Future & Option Price Downloading” checkbox is activated, TradeMax will skip download Future and Option Price.

    Function
    Description
    1.Begin date & End date You can choose the date from the dropdown calendar or manually enter the date
    2.Symbol The security name you selected in previous step.
    3.Date It will display the current day when you download the price of the symbol.
    4.Status It will display whether the symbol’s price is successfully downloaded or not. There are three kinds of status: 1. Downloaded 2. Skip 3. Failed

    Note: TradeMax might not be able to get the price of some securities because the ticker symbol does not match yahoo symbol or option symbol does not have price history on yahoo finance.

    5.Open & Close The price of the selected symbols on current day.
    6. Edit You can click “edit” button to append price history.
  4. After downloading the price of the security, you can get the data of symbols’ price history.
    • Click on the Price History Tab , the above Price History Grid opens.
    • You can activate the checkbox to set the Begin Date and End Date .
    • Select the specific security record, and the dialog box will display the price history in the specific period. (For example, select PTEN , the Price History Grid displays the price history of PTEN from 09/02/2009 to 09/23/2009. )

After downloading the price history of the holding security, TradeMax provides you a powerful function to Add, Edit and Delete the related record of the security in Price History Grid.

How to add a new price record?

If the price history of certain security you download is not complete or failed, you can manually add the price record so as to invest better.

  1. To add a new price record of specific security, you should right click the blank field in Price History Grid, then choose Add from the menu.
  2. A dialog box pops up:

    1.Symbol

    The specific security name

    2.Price Date You can set the price date from the dropdown calendar.
    3.Price Enter the price of the security you want to add
  4. After Pressing OK button, the new record outlined in red is generated in the grid.

How to edit price record?

If the price of specific security is incorrect, you can edit the price to get more useful information.

  1. To edit price of a specific security, you should select the price record you want to edit.
  2. Right click on the selected record, then choose Edit from the list.
  3. A dialog box pops up:

    1.Symbol

    The specific security name

    2.Price Date The default date of the selected security.
    3.Price Enter the correct price of the security you want to add
  5. After Pressing OK button, the new record outlined in red generates in the grid.

How to delete price record?

If one or several price records of your price history are useless, you can delete the price record with several clicks.

  1. To delete a price record of a specific security, you should select the record you want to delete.
  2. Right click on the selected record,  and then choose Delete from the menu.
  3. A dialog box pops up:
  4. Click on YES button to confirm your process, the record will be deleted from the grid.
