Column Headers


The headers on the columns in the grid have the following meanings.

Column Header Meaning
Action Action name in TradeMax.
Buy to Open / Long — Buy Stock/Option to Open a Long position
Sell to Close/ Closed Long— Sell Stock/Option to Close a Long position
Buy to Close — Buy Stock/Option to Close a Short position
Sell to Open — Sell Stock/Option to Open a Short position
dividend, Journal, stock merge etc.
ActionName Action name in your brokerage trade history.
For example, Buy, sell, dividend, Journal, stock merge etc.
Account Trade account in TradeMax
Amount Trade amount
Commission Trade broker commissions (Including fees)
DeferCost Deferloss produced by wash sales from last year
ExpireDate Expire date of option or future.
ID Trade ID in TradeMax.
Market Exchange market where you bought the financial product. For instance, NASDAQ.
Notes Any information of the trade record
Price Security price
Quantity Number of shares
Rate Option or future rate. An option has a 100 “Rate” which means an option contract is for 100 shares of the underlying stock.
StrikePrice The strike price of the underlying stock in the option or future
Symbol Security Ticker Symbol
TickerMatch The strike price of the underlying stock in the option or future
TradeDate Trade date
TradeTime Trade time
TradeMatch The amount of “Force-Match” for tax purpose.
Type Security type. For instance, stocks and mutual funds, options on stocks, Single-Stock-Futures, futures, currencies etc.

Symbols


The main function of symbol grid is to show you the relationship between a option and a stock. It will display relationship automatically after you import your trades into TradeMax. In addition, you can also append a specific symbol as you wish.

Click the item Symbols under the Account List on the left of the main windows, the grid below shows:

Basic Function
1. Group By Box Drag a column deaders here to group by that column
2.Symbol Grid Symbol Grid is the main section where users are able to view and interact with their symbols
3. Quick Access Bar Click one alphabet button to go to the specific trades beginning with the specific alphabet.

Under the Symbol, you can also do the following if it needs.

    • Click Append button in Trade tab
    • A popup dialog box allows you to record Symbol below:
      Option Basic Function
      Symbol Name Type in symbol’s name
      Underlying Stock Type in your underlying stock’s name of the symbol. If it is not an option, you can skip this field.
      Rate An option has a 100 ” Rate “ which means an option contract is for 100 shares of the underlying stock.
      Type From its dropdown list to select the type of the financial product.
      Strike Price Only available when the symbol is an option or future.
      Expire Date Only available when the symbol is an option or future.
      Exchange Market Type in the exchange market where you bought the financial product. For instance,NASDAQ
      Notes Any information of the product.

Trade Grid

Trade Grid (refer to the picture below) is the main part of the Trade window where users are able to view trade data and interact with their trades.

Part One: Overview of the Trade Grid

In this part, we will provide you the main function of each section.

Section 1: Preset View

TradeMax provides the frequently-used view for the data grid. You can select one from the Preset view’ dropdown list or skip it if you like.

Section 2: Group By Panel

Drag a column header here to group by that column.

Section 3: Time Range Filter

With Time Range Filter, you can filter the trades within a period. And you just need to select begin and end date.

Section 4: Data Grid

Data Grid is the main section where users are able to view and interact with their trades. This section used to illustrate how to get the specific data view in the data grid

 

Part Two: Custom Grid

In this part, we will provide you an example to show how to group the data and customize the grid.

 

 

 

Options


Option Dialog box provides the users with possible setting for TradeMax , the users can set different preference for account according to their requirement in General option , filter some unwanted information when running specific reports in Black list option, set your own washsale calculation rule to apply to your own wash sale scenarios in Wash Sale option.

The following wizard will tell you how to make your own settings based on your needs in different options.

  1. Click main button , and a main menu opens:
  2. Click Options button, the following dialog box displays:

Function
Description
General Tab Users can set the basic setting and possible preference after clicking General Tab. This is the default option.
Wash sale Tab Set your own calculation rule for your transactions by clicking Wash Sale Tab.
Black List Tab TradeMax provides you with Black List to filter some information of various reports. With this feature, you can choose to display the information you want by selecting transaction type or Security Ticker to generate the specific report.
Avg Basis Tab TradeMax allow you use Average Basis Method For Mutual Fund Cost Basis Calculating. With this feature, You can figure your gain or loss using an average basis only if you acquired the funds at various times and prices.
Name Enter your name, the name will display in your generated reports
SSN Enter your Social Security Number.
Turn Automatic LiveUpdata on (recommended) You can check the box on the left side to activate Live Update Function, and each time you run TradeMax, the automated Live update dialog box will pop up.
Automatically Scan for Trades You can check the box on the left side to activate Auto Scan function, TradeMax will auto scan your imported transaction.
Exercised / Assigned security ‘s buy/ sell price must be the same as strike price of option You can check the box on the left side to activate the function, TradeMax will auto-match your Exercised/ Assigned securities’ Buy/Sell price with the strike price of option.
Auto Expire unexercised / unassigned options at 0 price on Expiration Date You can check the box on the left side to activate the function, TradeMax will auto expire unexercised/ unassigned options at 0 price on expiration date.
Auto Assigned / Exercised Option to Stock after Split / Reserve Split Event You can check the box on the left side to activate the function, TradeMax will auto assigned / exercised option to stock after split / reserve split event.
Transaction Amount Tolerance Value You can enter a transaction tolerance value to allow transactions to exceed amount within certain tolerances.TradeMax follow the calculation as the formula : Amount = Price * Quantity + Commision , if your abs(Amount – Price * Quantity – Commision)>tolerance value, trademax will give you a warning message.
Long Term Capital Gain Holding Period The default long term capital gain holding period is One year.
Tax Currency The default Tax currency is USD.
Clear Report Cache Every time you run reports in TradeMax, the database will leave report cache which sync the change of the report data . If your report data cache occupies too much space , you can click this button to clear Report Cache. Your report cache will be cleared, but the new report cache will be generated when you run reports once more.
Database Path Click to view your database path.

 

Scan Trade Status


After you import the trade data into TradeMax, some trades will be displayed in Red or Green, we can use function Scan to scan the trade status so as to view the detailed information of these Red or Green trades in Information Grid. The following will tell you how to scan trade status in TradeMax :

  1. Click the Information Tab at the down-left corner of user interface of TradeMax.
  2. The Information Grid will extend, then click Scan Tab in Information Grid or just click Scan Tab in Trade Panel to display detailed information of unmatched Trades.
  3. Function Description
    1. Red Records Red records indicate the error transaction:

    a.If there is no position on hold, a close action(Sale to Close, Buy to Cover) will generate errors.

    b.when option exercised or assigned, the strike price of the option didn’t match the underlying stock trade price.

    c. When option exercised or assigned, the quantity of the option didn’t match the underlying stock trade quantity..

    d. When the option expired, the close price is not zero.

    e. Missing/Inconsistent Data fields by using Qty, Price, Commission, Fees and Rate information.

    2. Green Record Green records indicate that the closed transactions (A Sale to Close, a Buy to Cover ) close all your holding open position.
    3. Information Grid Information Grid display error trades after scanning.

    Error Trades may caused by the wrong action , quantity, sequence of the trade.

    Note: You should manually adjust the action , quantity, sequence of the trade to correct these errors.

    4. Scan You can click the Scan button to scan inaccurate trade status.
