Split Trades


You can split your trade as following:
  1. Select the trades you want to split.
  2. Learn more about: How to select trade records.

  3. Right-click the selected record and select the Trade Split in the context menu:

    Description
    1.Enter Transaction

    Select the transaction type.

    There are the following option from its dropdown list :

    Stock Split/Reverse Split -– A corporate action in which a company’s existing shares are divided into multiple shares.

    Stock Spin off-– A spin-off is a new company formed by a split from a larger one. Brokers vary widely as to report spinoffs on their statements.

    Stock Merge-– The combination of two or more corporations into one.

    2.Transaction Date The very date you split the security
    3.Account Choose the specific account name from the account list. If you choose <All Account> from the dropdown list , event will apply to all accounts.
    4.Old Security Name
    The name of security before the specific event. Enter the old security name manually in the Old Security Name filed or Select it from the Symbol dropdown list.

     

    5.Old Security Quantity
    Number of shares before the specific event.
    6.New Security Name
    The name of the security after the specific event. Enter the new security name manually in the New Security Name filed or Select it from the Symbol dropdown list.

    If Stock Split, the New Security Name is the same as the Old Security Name.

    7.New Security Quantity
    Number of shares after the specific event.
    8.New shares Issued
    The split ratio automatically calculated by New Security Quantity/Old Security Quantity.

    After checking all the information you entered, press OK button to continue the process or click Cancel button to cancel the appending process.

  7. After pressed OK button, the following new record display:
  8. The outlined row in red displays the New Split trade record.

  9. You can cancel this action with the Undo Button in the trade tab.

Trades Merge


Merge is the combination of two or more corporations into one. Manual adjustment is required by the user to account for the new stock because the various brokerage statement.

Make the adjustment just as follows:

  1. Select the records referring Merger
  2. Right-click the record and select the Trade Merge from its context menu
  3. A dialog box will pop up:

5.Old Security Quantity
Number of shares before the specific event.
6.New Security Name
The name of the security after the specific event. Enter the new security name manually in the New Security Name filed or Select it from the Symbol dropdown list.
7.New Security Quantity
Number of shares after the specific event.
8.New shares Issued
The split ratio automatically calculated by New Security Quantity/Old Security Quantity.

After checking all the information you entered, press OK button to continue the process or click the CANCEL button to cancel the appending process.

4. Afer you pressed OK button, the following new record display:

The outlined row in red displays the New Merge trade record.

  • You can cancel this action with the Undo Button in the trade tab.   
  • Trades Spinoff


    A Spin-Off is a new company formed by a split from a larger one. Brokers vary widely as to report spinoffs on their statements. It is impossible to automate the importing of these transactions in TradeMax, so manual adjustment is required by the user to account for the new stock.

    Make the adjustment just as follows:

    1. Select the records referring Spinoff
    2. Right-click the record and select the Trade Spinoff from its context menu
    3. A dialog box will pop up:

    7.New Security Quantity
    Number of shares after the specific event.
    8.New shares Issued
    The split ratio automatically calculated by New Security Quantity/Old Security Quantity.

    After checking all the information you entered, press OK button to continue the process or click the CANCEL button to cancel the appending process.

    4. Afer you pressed OK button, the following new record display:

  • You can cancel this action with the Undo Button in the trade tab. 
  • My Broker(s)


    Context Menu makes our task a breeze in windows and TradeMax makes full use of context menu function under the Account List. Right-click different item, you will get different context menu.

    1. Right click the My Broker or broker folder, you will get the following Menu

      Import Trade Import you trade history.
      Add New Account Setup a new account to set you trade data
      Add View Add a view to display some specified trade data under some specified condition. MORE DETAILS.
    3. Right click the account, you will get the following Menu:

      Edit Account Edit the current account
      Delete Account Delete the current account
    5. Right click view FYxxxx, you will get the following Menu:

      Add View Add a view to display some specified trade data under some specified condition. MORE DETAILS.
      Edit View Edit the current view
      End Of Tax Year End of current tax year
      TXF Export Export the TXF files to your computer. The TXF files can be imported to popular tax software such as TaxCut and TurboTax.
      Delete View Delete the current view
    7. Right click the view FYxxxx (For example FY2008) and select the Add View show you the following context menu:
      Basic Function
      Stock Contains all Stock transactions
      Option Contains all Option. transactions
      Future Contains all Future transactions
      Currency Contains all Currency transactions
      Stock Option and SSF Contains all Stock Option and SSF transactions
      Baseline Contains the baseline positions of the current tax year
      Finance Data Contains the cash flow data, for example, cash dividends.
      Trade Data Contains the all trade data for the schedule D purpose
      My holdings Contains the holding position of specific date
      Custom Customized view
    8. Right click the view Trade Data and select the Add Report, the following context menu display:
      Function Basic Function
      Short/Long Term Capital G&L Report This is the default report created by TradeMax to file with IRS.
      IRS Schedule D-1 This report is for those users who require a more exact replica of the IRS form.
      Realized Gain/Loss Report This report is for those users who require trade transaction detail. Such as Security, Quantity, open price, Open date, Open Commission, Close price, close commission, sales price, cost basic, Actual gain &lose for each transaction. Moreover, it can be grouped by ID, Symbol or TradeDate.
      Unrealized Gain/Loss Report This report is for those users who  want to get the information of Gain/Loss when the price of the securities decrease or increase after buying, but he or she has yet to sell it.
      Transactioon Detail Report This report lists every trade record as displayed in the grid. Additionally, the profit or loss can be grouped by ID, Symbol or TradeDate.
      Cost Basis Transaction Report This report is for those users who track the cost basis in stocks, bonds and mutual funds to report a cost basis when an investment is sold.
      Summary Report This valuable summary or aggregation of an entire ID or Symbol allows a user to see how one symbol performed versus another.
      Wash Sale Detail Report This report allows you to analyze your disallowed wash sale losses deferred to next year.
      Mark to Market for Form 4797 This report is for traders in stocks, options and single-stock futures who elect mark-to-market accounting to report their trading activity on Form 4797
      Mark to Market Detail Report This report is for those users  want to record the price or value of a security, portfolio on a daily basis to calculate gains and losses or to confirm that margin requirement are met.
      Daily Market Value Report This report is for those users who track the performance and market value of the securities on daily basis in specific finance year. The report will show the portfolio of every transaction on daily basis.

    Edit an Account


    TradeMax also allows you to edit an existing account with the following instruction:

    1. Right-click the account you want to edit (for example, ScoreTrade Jones) and select the Edit Account from its context menu:
    2. A pop-up window will appears:
    3. Edit the information. This box is almost the same as the box in the setup a new account, and you can learn more in the setup a new account.

    Delete an Account


    TradeMax allows you to setup an account, combine accounts and it also allows you to delete a specific account.

    1. Right click a specific account ( for example, ScoreTrade Jones) and select Delete Account in the context menu.

    2. pop up the following dialog box

    3. Type in delete to delete the account.


      Note: Delete an account will delete all data in that account.

    Delete Trades


    If you find duplicated records in the data grid, TradeMax allows you to delete with just a few clicks as followed:
    1. Select the records you want to delete in the Grid

    2. Press the Delete button in the Trade Tab

      -OR-

    1. Select the records you want to edit in the Grid

    2. Right-click the selected records and select the Trade Delete from its context menu

     

     

     

    Edit Symbol


    To apply changes to all trade records with the same symbol, TradeMax provides users Edit Symbol function.

    With this function, users can edit Symbol Name, Underlying Stock, Type, Rate, Strike Price, Expire Date, Exchange Market, Rates.

     

    Edit Symbol in the Trade Data View

    1. Click the Trade Data view in the Account List to go to the Trade Data View
    2. Click the row header to select the specific trade record
    3. Right-click the record and select the Trade Adjustment>Edit Symbol in the context menu
    4. The following dialog box will pop up:

    5. Edit specific parameter in the box and click OK. Pop up the following confirm box:
    6. Click Yes to apply change to all trades or No to change the selected one only.

     

     

    Edit Symbol in the Symbols View

    1. Click Symbols view under the Account List to go to the Symbol View
    2. Click the parameter cell to activate it and then edit it with you keyboard and mouse
    3. Pop up the following confirm box
    4. Click Yes to apply change to all trade records with the same symbol or No to change the selected one only.

     

     

    Add View


    Trade Max provides you powerful function to filter your trade by adding different view. You just need to right-click specific item in the Account List and select the Add View function in the context menu.

    Delete a View


    TradeMax allows you to delete view easily.

    Right-click a specific view (for example, Jones & Rachel) under the broker tree and select Delete View function in the context menu to delete the view
