Import data copied from broker Transaction History Report


Option 4: Import Trade data copied from broker Transaction History Report

If your security trader holds online brokerage account, TradeMax provides an easy wizard to import trades from your broker’s website using Transaction History Report, the users just need to copy the Transaction History Report from website of the specific broker, then paste to TradeMax during the import process.

Let us take Citibank for example:

    1. Select I want to import data copied from broker Transaction History Report from the pop-up dialog.

Function Description
Account Select an account to import your data
Trade Time Range Automatically display the date range of existing trades in the current account
Mode If you already have a user name and password of the selected account, select I want to connect to ***. I have a *** user name and password.
If you have trade data in your computer, please select I want to import data from local file.
If you want to skip the file downloading process, just select I want to import data copied from broker Transaction History Report.
Include Baseline If you have already appended baseline position, you will need to select the checkbox and enter your specific tax year or select it with the arrows at the right side
    1. Click Next, the Clipboard Data dialog box appears:

    1. You just need to log onto the website of the specific broker, and copy the transaction history.

    1. Click “Paste” button to paste the data onto the clipboard of TradeMax.

    1. Click Next Button to continue.

Function Description
1. Profile Name Preset import profiles for importing trade data. With the default profile, you can skip Step 2, Step 4 and Step 5 Profiles Options:
1.Broker Profile: ScoreTrade, Interactive Brokers, E*Trade and so on
2.File Profile: Quicken Interchange Format(*.QIF),  Open Financial Exchange(*.OFX), *.csv, *.txt, *.xls, *.qfx.
3.Profile Wizard: Setup a temporary profile or replace it with specific one to setup a new profile which can be re-used to import a similar fileDefault is : Broker Profile like ScoreTrade; Quicken Interchange Format(*.QIF), Excel Format(*.XLS), Open Financial Exchange(*.OFX)
2. Sample Data The Sample Data of specific broker will be displayed in this field, if the data file you copied from the broker doesn’t match the required format of corresponding profile, a notification window will pop-up.Note: If the data doesn’t match, you can select Profile Wizard from the droplist of Profile Name to make changes in the settings.
3. Short Transaction Detection If this function is activated, whenever TradeMax imports a sell before a buy for a symbol with no shares currently open, the trade will be recorded as short.
Note: You shouldn’t select Short Transaction Detection , if you did not Enter the Baseline Positions or Include the Baseline Position. In this case, TradeMax will assign the close long transaction as an open short transaction
4.Buy to Cover long Transaction Detection If your online brokerage accounts allow the conversion of an open, short position to an open, long position with a single buy transaction (and vice versa). You can activate Buy to Cover long Transaction Detection function to allow TradeMax to make the necessary adjustments during the import process. TradeMax will automatically split up the single “buy” transaction into two – one to close the short position, and another to open up a new long position.
5. Import File Click File Browser Button to select data file from your computer.
    1. Click Next to pop up Map Field dialog box.

In this step, you can map your data by assigning or mapping the column header. (With the default profile, this step will be skipped.)

    1. Click Next for the Symbol Validation dialog box to pop up.

    1. Click Next to go to the next step

Click Finish Button, a File Save As dialog box appears to give you the option of setting up the profile as a new one in the profile list for you to import trade history more easily

    1. Click OK button go to the next step, and the trade data is imported.

Does the TradeMax software also handle trading activity for Futures contracts or commodities?

TradeMax works with Futures and commodities as TradeMax supports Section 1256 reports under which futures and commodities are classified.So you can view your performance of commodities or futures in Section 1256 Report.

Just follow the steps below to run Section 1256 Reports:

  1. Run TradeMax and import your trade data to the specific account you setup in TradeMax.
  2. Choose the specific finance year under selected account, then right-click Trade Data folder
  3. Select Section 1256 report from its pop-up list and Section 1256 Report Tab will be generated under Trade Data directory.
  4. Click Section 1256 Report Tab.
  5. Before generating Section 1256 reports , you will be required to select your positon holding Date. (The default is the end of specific year)
  6. The stock price of the selected date will be downloaded automatically.Note: As for commodities, TradeMax will require you to enter the commodities’ amount at the year end
  7. Now, you can view your commodities’ performance in the generated Section 1256 Report.

Import Trades from Brokerage Account

  1. Select Import Trades from Brokerage Account from the pop-up dialog.
  2. Function Description
    Account Select an account to import your data
    Trade Range Automatically display the date range of existing trades in the current account
    Mode If you already have a user name and password of the selected account, select I want to connect to ***. I have a *** user name and password.
    If you have trade data in your computer, please select I want to import data from local file.
    If you want to skip the file download process, just select I want to import data copied from broker Transaction History Report.
    Include Baseline If you have already appended baseline position, you will need to select the checkbox and enter your specific tax year or select it with the arrows at the right side
  3. Click Next to make further changes in the settings.
  4. Function Description
    Your Online Broker Select your online broker from the dropdown list.
    User ID Manually enter your registered User ID
    Password Enter your password manually.
  5. Click Next Button to continue.
    • Online Accounts: If you have several subsidiary accounts under the main account, you can modify it or select it from the dropdown list.
    • Set the Start time and End time manually or select it from the drop down list, the trade data within this period will be downloaded. Then click Next to Step 2.

Download Data From SogoTrade


Sogotrade provides you two methods to download your trade records to your computer:

To download an entire year trade data with monthly statements:

  1. Go to the SogoTrade website, log into your account and click the Accounts tab and then click the Statements
  2. On the Account Statements page, please select your statement periods to view list of available statements.
  3. Click on the specific statements link, and choose “Save to Disk” to save the statements to your hard disk or other storage medium.
  4. Download the statements of an entire year month by month.Note:Since TradeMax cannot support PDF, you need to transfer the PDF to TXT format as follows: Open the statements in your disk with Adobe Acrobat Reader and copy it to the Notepad and saved as TXT files.
    1. You should find the “Trade Activity” table in your PDF file.
    2. Select your trade data from Trade Activity’s column header to page end.
    3. Then copy & paste it into your empty Notepad. TXT format data must be in this format as shown below:Note:Do not include the PDF page footer like “page 4”. If have next page,copy & paste the next page’s trade data in the same way.
  5. Run TradeMax,create a new SogoTrade account,and select the account.
  6. Click import trade button, select import from local file.
  7. In Profile Name dropdown list,please select profile [sogotrade trade activity(monthly)].
  8. In import file field,click the browse button to select the txt file which copy from your pdf.
  9. Click Finish to complete your importing.

To download Account History within three month to update your trade data

  1. Go to the SogoTrade website, log into your account and click the Accounts tab and then click the Account History
  2. On the Confirmed Account History page, please select Time Range and Type to view your account history
  3. Using your web browser’s Edit menu, Select All (Ctrl-A keyboard shortcut) command to select and copy the entire report to notepad and MS Excell. And then save it to your computer.
  4. TXT file data must be in this format as shown below:If your downloaded file is different from the above format, you can set it in Profile Wizard
  5. Run TradeMax to import trade activity data from local file.

Download Data from Investrade


The following steps will show you how to download data from Investrade.

  1. Login your Investrade trade account.
  2. Click Account Information > Activity.
  3. Select Trades from the “Activity Type” drop down box.

  4. Unselect Current check box , then set a specific time range.
  5. Your Trade History report will display, the report should contain the right columns as shown below:

    Account Type | Trade Date | Settle Date | Exec Time | Trade Number | CUSIP/Symbol | ISIN | Description | Buy/Sell | Qy | Price | Principal Amt | Comm | Other Comm | Net Amount | Curr

  6. Click Download Data icon

  7. Select Delimited text file and Comma delimited and then click the Download now button

  8. Click the Save button.
  9. Click Save button in Save In drop down dialog box.
  10. Run TradeMax and setup an Investrade account to import trade activity data from local file.
